About the Department of Physics

The Department of Physics of Shri. Krishan Chander Govt. Degree College, Poonch is one of the oldest & prestigious Departments of the college, established in 1951. The Department offers six semesters in B.Sc. programme under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) at undergraduate level with Physics. The main objective of Department is to impart quality education to students with best available facilities. The highly qualified and committed teaching faculty of the Department is relentlessly working to improve the teaching learning methods through the blend of traditional methods and modern ICT tools. The Departmental non-teaching staff forms a highly significant arm of the Department and is responsible for the maintenance of physics laboratories. The Departmental infrastructure is well equipped lecture hall & laboratories such as Electronics, Mechanics and Optics labs for conducting teaching and practical classes. The laboratory sessions are intended to give the students a hands-on experience of the experiments that enable the verification of the knowledge gained in the theory classes. Problem solving hones the analytical and rational thinking of the students in applying their knowledge to practical situations in life. To have a better student-teacher learning, Department has switched to online mode of teaching with the latest teaching aids like performing practical through Virtual labs etc. Department also organizes lectures and other academic activities throughout the academic session.
